larry allgood Desk

Larry Allgood, a local pilot from Burnesville, needed a desk for his home office that could fit into a tight space between a wall and his new fireplace hearth. He had purchased some walnut slabs that he loved and asked me to create a simple yet functional L-shaped desk. The design included two slide-out trays, allowing Larry to adjust his workspace to dodge the sunshine at different parts of the day.

Navigating the unique challenges presented by the walnut slab, I decided to incorporate a waterfall edge on the open side of the desk. This solution effectively hid certain voids and inclusions in the wood while adding a striking visual element. During installation, we discovered that the two sliding trays didn’t leave enough room for his chair. I quickly redesigned one tray and made the necessary adjustment, ensuring that the desk met all of Larry’s needs and fit perfectly into his space.
